The Best Fashion 'It' Pieces Trending On Instagram Now

From Rixo dresses to Balenciaga boots, invest in these certified pieces of social currency now and watch the likes the roll in…

This year it was revealed that the average person spends a total of 53 minutes on Instagram in a day – that’s a lot of visuals to digest. And as print publishing declines, more and more of us are using Instagram as the main source of our purchase inspiration, particularly when it comes to fashion. Fashion trends are now as much dictated on the social network as they are the catwalk, with Instagram images arguably having a bigger impact on the way we shop and dress than anything else.   As we mindlessly scroll through our social feeds, we must see thousands of images, people and products fly by in a digital haze. That means that in order to stand out from the crowd, you have to be something pretty special. And pretty special is exactly how we’d describe the 9 pieces below. From gaze-snatching sequin dresses to easy-to-slip-into skirts, these are the cream of the image crop when it comes to trending Insta-feed fashion. We’re not talking one offs – these are the standout women’s clothing and accessories that keep coming up time and time again.

1. Rixo Daisy Sequin Dress

It has been an incredible year for boutique brand Rixo, who have enjoyed Ganni-levels of Instagram success following a much-hyped collaboration with Laura Jackson, as well as a stellar line up from their own collection. Whilst they design for every element of your wardrobe, it has definitely been their dresses that have captured everyone’s attention on the ‘gram with one dress in particular cropping up time and time again: the Daisy sequin dress. Seen on everyone from Demi Moore to Jackson herself, this shimmering mulberry dress has a magpie quality that renders it irresistible when it comes to party season dressing.

2. Topshop Satin Bias Midi Skirt

How did everyone on Instagram manage to get their hands on this now iconic satin skirt but we didn’t? We missed out the first time when it was only chocolate and rust, but now Topshop have heard our cries and released several new colourways including a vibrant yellow that will see you through until spring. Whilst this has been the runaway trend of winter 2018, mark our words – this isn’t the last you’ll have seen of this skirt. We predict fresh new prints, pastels and pop colour for 2019 too.

3. Balenciaga BB Boots

Boots are a winter mainstay, but rarely ones as fancy as these. Influencers and editors alike can’t seem to get enough of the black and gold BB boots from Balenciaga – and it isn’t exactly hard to see why. Balenciaga's pointed-toe boots have a seriously 80s vibe—a brash logo, wide ankle, killer heel and a sharp-as-an-insult toe that wouldn’t look out of place on Joan Collins in Dynasty.  Wear them with a chic suit by day like We Are Twinset’s Phillipa Ross or with a sequin dress on the dancefloor for cool Christmas party feet alternative.

4. Zara White Zip Dungarees

Blink and you’ll miss them! These white dungarees have already dropped off the Zara site, meaning that people are going to have to fight it out in store to get a piece of the action. We predict there will be a restock any minute now, but until then there’s plenty of alternatives to get the look faster. We love the understated styling seen on Laura Jackson, where she’s layered her statement denim with a warm and fuzzy knit.

5. Mango Oversized Check Coat

Square up to the season in this winter’s most (online) checked out coat from Mango. From Diletta Bonaiuti to We The People’s Jessie Bush, this oversized heritage check coat has draped the shoulders of our social feed’s most stylish. Jessie proved the coat’s countryside credentials by testing it out with a beret on windy Irish moors, but it works just as well within city limits with a chic skinny polo neck, jeans and stiletto boots.

6. Staud Shirley Bag

Ever wondered what’s inside another woman’s bag? So did Staud apparently, so they made it super obvious with the creation of their Shirley tote bag - a combination of a leather pouch encased within a transparent PVC outer. It’s pristine, immaculate and seriously fresh – just keep it that way by stashing your bits and pieces on the inside rather than the outside. There is such a thing as social media overshare, don’t you know.

7. & Other Stories Leopard Print Satin Midi Skirt

Another day, another post about an amazing skirt – this time from & Other Stories. Leopard print saturated our feeds around Fashion Week and hasn’t slowed down since. Instead, it just got a little smoother in its style, embracing satin as its fabric of choice. The result was this trending leopard midi satin midi skirt that influencers were clambering over themselves to try – and so are we.

8. Chloe Brushed Check Jacket

Flea market, but make it fashion. Chloé is known for perfectly balancing British cool with a pinch of Parisian glamour and a feminine 70s flair – and this vintage-inspired blurred check jacket embodies that. The brown mohair and cotton blend check is perfectly in keeping with this season’s retro obsession, adding a nonchalant vintage market appeal to other pieces in your wardrobe. We’ve seen the jacket everywhere, but our favourite look has to be Lizzy Hadfield, aka. Shot From The Street, and her all-navy and trainers combination.

9. Chloe Studded Boots

If you want to know the test of a good trend, see how often it resurfaces. These studded boots from Chloe have been everywhere this winter – and the one before that. Chloe knew when they were on to a good thing and just kept making their original style better and better. The high street has spawned several imitations, but nothing quite compares to the original. At this price, they’re definitely a luxury investment but if their past performance is anything to go by, these will be trending for seasons to come. Too many studs? Give Givenchy a try.
