Beige Is The New Black: The Best Ways To Wear The Neutral Trend

Whether you wear it on holiday or to the office, these pieces from Dorothy Perkins can take you anywhere.

A while ago in the land of fashion, dark shades and grayscale used to rule. These days, possibly prompted by a seek for light and warmth in a chilling state of British politics, our wardrobes were begging us to send nudes- along with other hygge evoking hues. Although non-volatile in name, neutrals are the most exciting new trend that every ‘it’ girl and stylish public figure has been seen spotted in, from Bella Hadid to Rihanna, and even several times by our very own Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle. The span of neutral shades stretches quite wide, but this season we’re focused mainly on those within the realm of ivory, nude, chocolate and tan, fixated on neutrals that encapsulate warmth. Creams and camel are especially hot, giving us a deep, rich tone that we crave for spring and summer- and the word ‘rich’ was not used with futility, there really is something about neutral earthy shades that always look undeniably luxurious. This colour trend started gaining traction in winter and was a popular tonal theme for jumper, and although we may not be sporting sweaters in the transition into spring and summer, that doesn’t mean we have to shy away from knitwear. Cardigans and crochet dresses will be a suitable alternative from warmer weather that feel down-to-earth, Mediterranean and beachy- inspired straight from the sands of St. Tropez.

To layer onto this look, do note that ‘all neutral’ doesn’t have to mean no patterns! Animal print (snakeskin, leopard) and checks can fall into this colour theme perfectly. And while speaking of the luxury and warmth these tones induce, sprinkles of gold jewellery create the ideal companion for your tan attire. To capitalise off of the natural pigment, pair your all-neutral outfit with a woven basket purse- another trend that’s big this season and compliments your colour theme.
