Despite what every brand tells you at this time of year, not every occasion calls for a bedazzled jumpsuit, floor length bodycon dress or a pair of heels so high you’ll need your taxi to drop you right at the door. Whether you live in a city or out in the sticks, you won’t have failed to notice that in a lot of places this level of getting dolled up is actually pretty rare. Plenty of us will actually do a lot of our festive socialising straight after work, at a cosy dinner or round someone’s house, taking an altogether more casual approach to partying.
